Prof. Ilaria Fiorentini

Ilaria Fiorentini teaches Sociolinguistics and Pragmatics and Text Linguistics at the University of Pavia. Her main research interests include minority languages, language contact, discourse markers, multilingualism in school contexts and online languages; she has published several papers on these topics both in Italian and international scientific journals. She is the author of “Segnali di contatto. Italiano e ladino nelle valli del Trentino-Alto Adige” (FrancoAngeli, Milan, 2017) and “Sociolinguistica delle minoranze in Italia. Un’introduzione” (Carocci, Rome, 2022).

After a Master’s degree in Theoretical and Applied Linguistics at the University of Pavia, Elena Voltan obtained a M.A. in Teaching and Promoting Italian language and culture to foreigners and a Certification in Teaching Italian as a Foreign Language from the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. Over the past ten years she has been teaching Italian as a second language in different educational contexts, but mainly to university international students. At the University of Pavia she has been teaching Italian in international exchange programs, such as in Study Abroad, Marco Polo Turandot and Foundation Year Programs. At the moment she is also the Teaching Coordinator of the Foundation Year Program. She has been involved in research projects dealing with Language Acquisition, Language Testing and CLIL-Content and Language Integrated Learning, and on these topics she published and presented studies at international conferences.

Immediately after the graduation from the Guangdong University of Foreign Studies in 2005, she arrived in Milan for a post graduate program. In 2007 she joined the University of Pavia and now is working in the International Relations Office and is responsible for the international promotion, recruitment and the students' welcoming services, as well as the registration and enrollment of the Marco Polo/Turandot Program.
